Growing up in Sweden, my paintings are strongly influenced by my Scandinavian roots but it’s the dramatic Scottish landscapes that inspire me to paint. I spend a lot of time walking and being in nature, and my paintings are often based on memories or feelings of a place. With the use of layering techniques and some bold mark making I aim to create atmosphere and mood in my work. Although the Scottish weather can be challenging, it’s the ever-changing elements that create the mood that is essential for my paintings. Living in the Cairngorms National Park and being surrounded by the wild landscape makes painting here a very natural process and allows for a very immediate response when I go into the studio. I hope this shows in what I create and that the viewer will connect emotionally and really feel the place.
